On October 2nd and 3rd, a whimsical play for all ages was performed at Chugiak High School. The House at Pooh Corner, a play by A.A. Milne, explores a “grown-up” theme with a sweet, child-like innocence.
The Hundred Acre Wood is a peaceful setting for this play. That is, until bouncy, trouncy Tigger shows up. He is troublesome, loud and destructive. The other animals don’t want him to stay. This more mature theme of an outsider trying to fit in where he’s not welcome is presented in such a way that even the youngest child can understand.
The stars of the show were Matea Williams (Piglet), Ashley Renteria (Eeyore), and Joe Ives (Tigger). Piglet’s innocence, Eeyore’s morose pessimism and Tigger’s energetic personality were all amazingly interpreted by the student actors. The rest of the cast performed their roles quite enjoyably and the combination made for a thoroughly delightful show.
