Tips for wrestlers concerned about making weight
- Never cut out water until 24 hours within weigh-in
- Eat something light every two hours
- Keep in mind that starving yourself will only make you lose muscle
- Do not let your weight jump around too much (for example, cutting 20 pounds a week qualifies as way too much)
- Have a high protein diet
- Drink tons of water
- Do not eat bad sugars (for example, candy)
- Try to avoid salt on the day of weigh-in; Salt has the potential to keep water in
- Re-hydrate as soon as possible after weigh-ins
- And remember, cutting too much weight is a bad thing; you will only get weaker
