WACKO: WACKO stands for “Wild And Crazy Kid Olympics.” And for the past two years the class of 2010 has dominated the WACKO games. Now that the Class of 2010 is graduating they wanted to end the year with a bang. Their goal was to win the WACKO games for the third consecutive year, and pull a famed “3-peat.” With games ranging from Supermarket Sweets to the Egg Toss to the most famous Graveyard Relay, nothing could stop the seniors.

WACKO is a big deal for everyone, not just the class of 2010, at Chugiak High School. Everyone gets riled up and excited for this rockin’ event.

The WACKO week started off with spirit days: Monday…Animal Day, Tuesday…Kiddo Day, Wednesday…Would you be my friend if I wore this day?, Thursday…CHS Day, Friday…Class Color Day.

The WACKO games (played on Friday during a special assembly) began with the ROTC color guard and the singing of the National Anthem. With Garrett Balen as MC, everyone was in for a real treat. During the competition the crowd enjoyed songs ranging from Hip-Hop to Rock, and everyone had a blast.

The theme of this year’s WACKO was Board Games. Freshmen were represented by the game Cranium, Sophomores by Candyland, Juniors by Clue, Seniors by Monopoly and Staff members by Chess. The highlight of the day for many was seeing Colette Marshall and Dave Bierria dressed as the King and Queen of Chess (and the school.)

The Seniors were off to a rocky start, losing their first game. However, it didn’t take long for them to stage a comeback, dominating in the Egg Toss and the Pudding Pie Relay. At the end of the event, the Seniors were crowned the winners of the 2010 WACKO games.  Congratulations Seniors!
