Pebble Mine

The Pebble Project is a mining project that is trying to be developed in Southwest Alaska near the community of Iliamna and the waters of Bristol Bay.  The companies promoting the mine (Northern Dynasty and the Pebble Limited Partnership) say the Pebble Project has one of the largest concentrations of copper, gold and silver in the world.

I think Pebble Mine should not be built.  The Pebble Mine will be too much money to spend and will be a waste of money.

Also, they are talking about putting the mine where the largest salmon fishery is in the world.  It will harm the fish and leave the rivers contaminated with chemicals in it.  The poison left behind from the waste of the mine’s drilling will kill the salmon in the streams where the mine dumps it.

You would not be able to get fresh drinking water if the Pebble Mine is built, because the run off could affect the water residents in the area use for drinking.

No one will know what the future effects of the mine will be because there is nothing like it in the world.

Call or write to the Pebble Project and tell them you don’t want to contaminate the waters of Bristol Bay and the community.

I myself, would be actually for pebble mine except for the fact that it is a Canadian company working it. It would be good for jobs, and be very profitable for Alaska. (Also, I would like to know the sources, for your article) but because it is not a local company I am against it.
